2015 general elections: oyo state league of veteran journalists calls for rancor free elections

 Corruption ; expert described as  leech worm, an aquactic blood sucking annelid class that have eaten deep into all areas of Nigeria national lives; most especially among all the different arms of government which one way or the other made the country under developed.

Chief Areoye Oyebola (former managing editorof Daily times of Nigeria and chairman  board publications limited ) made the ascertion at a symposium titled “2015 General Elections; Whither Nigeria?” organized by the league of veteran journalist, oyo state at NUJ press centre iyaganku Ibadan.He said, Nigeria comprises of insensitive legislatoes who have no regard for public outcries over there recent decision to pay  their leaders huge life pensions for spending about 4-8 yrs as legislator and therefore condemed   the decision.        

Adding  that the whole situation reveals one of the many absurdities in Nigeria  which is extravagance in governance and the unduly high salaries and other emoluments paid to  political office holders that acrude to about 90% of the country’s enormous wealth being illegally appropriated  by about 2%  of the country’s citizens.

Chief Areoye Oyebola however enumerated that what Nigeria now need is ” greatmen with great heart, foresight, uncompromising integrity and genuine  gift of leadership” who can turn her situation around  so that the country will not freefall into abyss.   He urged politicians to look into the absurdities of Nigeria present  constitution  and restructure its federal system to become  province in the six zones.    

Also contributing , the resident electoral commissioner independent national electoral commission oyo state – Ambassador (dr) R.O Akeju retreated his organization (INEC) commitement    to free and fair  2015  general elections and urge  those who are yet to collect their PVC  to do so ontime.     Another contributor, Remi Onowon(Director national orientation agency oyo state) stated that his  organization has put in place all mechanism to orientate stakeholders and people of oyo state  on the forthcoming  general elections.He therefore enjoined all politicians not to hit the polity.       

Welcoming  the guests to the symposium, Kola Animasaun (chairman league of veteran journalist oyo state) challenged the guests to address the theme of the symposium and profer solutions.While commending our Armed forces gallantry in the north eastern part of the country against the terrorist, he charged  Inec to  perfect its mechanism  on other aspects of the elections.Kola Animasaun observed that the league of veteran journalists oyo state will continue to collaborate with other well-meaning Nigerians and organization by supporting issue based campaigns and rancor free elections and finally implore politicians to play politics according to the rule of the game.
