Man loses property to woman he met on Facebook

A computer laptop

It was a sad moment for a 28-year-old man based in Kubwa, a satellite town in Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory, after he lost his valuables, including his computer laptop, mobile phones, huge amount of money in cash and other items, to a woman he met on Facebook and invited over to his house for the weekend, Daily Trust reports.

It was gathered that the man, an artisan who resides at Berger Camp in Phase 2, Site 1, area of Kubwa, and the lady who claimed to live in another part of the city, met on the social mediaplatform and they started dating online, and after a while, he invited the woman over.
It was gathered that when the woman went to visit the man, she had with her a handbag containing some items including a wrap of couscous, a sort of meal made from semolina wheat using water to blend it.
A source close to the man narrated that after the man and the lady had exhausted themselves with several rounds of sex, the woman prepared the couscous which she had brought and immediately the man took it, he became unconscious.
“As soon as the man became dizzy, the woman took his laptop, phones and all his cash and left the house,” the source said.
It was learnt that when the man regained consciousness, he discovered that his Facebook over had taken his properties and left the house and when he tried to connect with her online, her accounts had been deleted.
He reported the matter to the Kubwa Police State where the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Chief Superintendent Nuruddeen Sabo, confirmed the incident, saying the police is making efforts at tracking the woman through her network provider.

Hillary Clinton" Democratic candidate hires Latino voter outreach deputy

Democratic candidate Clinton hires Latino voter outreach deputyDemocrat Hillary Clinton has hired the president of the Latino Victory Project to help mobilize key voting communities as she looks ahead to the November general election for the White House, according to an aide.
Cristobal Alex will be the campaign's new deputy director of voter outreach and mobilization, starting later this month, the aide said.
Minority voters have been major blocs for Clinton as she's notched a commanding lead over Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders, her rival for the Democratic nomination, and could prove a crucial factor in the November general election.
Among those minority voters are Latinos, a fast-growing group that, according to many activists, has seen a spike in voter registration in recent months.
Many activists point squarely to presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump as the spur for those voter registrations, as he has called Mexican immigrants rapists and drug dealers and said a federal judge could not do his job properly because of his Mexican heritage.
In contrast, both Clinton and Sanders have actively courted Latino voters, releasing ads in Spanish and promising to hire Latinos to key cabinet positions.
While the Democratic convention is not until July, Clinton has a commanding lead in pledged delegates. She added to that lead on Sunday, when she was projected the winner of the day's Puerto Rico primary.
Primaries on Tuesday include delegate-rich California, which also boasts a diverse populating including Latinos, African Americans and Asian Americans.
But Latino activists have warned Democrats that merely bashing Trump is not enough to win their votes, pressing for engagement on issues ranging from immigration to jobs to education.
The non-partisan Latino Victory Project works to build political power among Latino communities.

Muhammad Ali Boxing legend dead at 74

Muhammad AliFormer world heavyweight champion Muhammad Ali, whose record-setting boxing career, unprecedented flair for showmanship, and controversial stands made him one of the best-known figures of the 20th century, died on Friday aged 74, media reports said.
Family spokesman Bob Gunnell told NBC News that Ali died in a Phoenix-area hospital. Reuters could not immediately confirm the report.
"My heart is deeply saddened yet both appreciative and relieved that the greatest is now resting in the greatest place," boxer Roy Jones Jr. said on Twitter.
Ali was hospitalized this week for a respiratory ailment. The former prize fighter had long been suffering from Parkinson's syndrome, which impaired his speech and made the once-graceful athlete almost a prisoner in his own body.
Ali proclaimed himself "the greatest" - as well as "the boldest, the prettiest, the most superior, most scientific, most skillfullest."
Few could argue with him at his peak in the 1960s. With his dancing feet and quick fists, he could - as he put it - float like a butterfly and sting like a bee. He was the first person to win the heavyweight championship three times.
Ali became much more than a colorful and interesting athlete. He spoke boldly against racism in the '60s, as well as the Vietnam War.
Ali was born in Louisville, Kentucky, on Jan. 17, 1942, as Cassius Marcellus Clay Jr., a name shared with a 19th century slavery abolitionist. He later changed his name after his conversion to Islam.
Ali is survived by his wife, the former Lonnie Williams, who knew him when she was a child in Louisville, along with his nine children.

“God is angry with the Buhari-led government” - Fayose

Governor of Ekiti State, Ayo Fayose and President Muhammadu Buhari

Ekiti State governorAyo Fayose has said that God is angry with the Muhammadu Buhari administration.

Fayose made the comment on Sunday, June 5, 2016, during a service at the Government House Chapel in Ado-Ekiti.
“I am not a prophet of doom, but I must tell you the truth. It is this economic downturn that will pull down the Buhari-led government. Mark my word. The economy will improve, but it will be too late in the life of the Buhari-led government,” Fayose said.
“God is angry with the Buhari-led government. It is shedding the blood of too many innocent people. Soldiers would enter the home of poor village people and gun them down in cold blood.
“There is too much of blood-shedding. Look at what they did to that innocent woman in Kano. I am telling you that God allowed them to get into government so that they would be exposed; so that everyone would see their inability and hypocrisy,” he added.
Fayose had earlier said that Buhari is incapable of ruling Nigeria properly.

Jonathan says Nigeria may revisit anti-gay law

Former President Goodluck Jonathan says Nigeria may revisit the anti-gay marriage law which he signed on January 7th 2014. Jonathan said this while speaking at Bloomberg studio today June 6th
“When it comes to equality, we must all have the same rights as Nigerian citizens. In the light of deepening debates for all Nigerians and other citizens of the world to be treated equally and without discrimination, and with the clear knowledge that the issue of sexual orientation is still evolving, the nation may at the appropriate time revisit the law” he said

'I am being investigated for corruption'- Goodluck Jonathan

In an interview with Bloomberg TV this morning, former President Goodluck Jonathan, said he is aware he is being investigated for corruption in Nigeria. Asked if he was aware that he is being investigated, Jonathan said
"Of course, obviously we would be investigated and I am being investigated. Yes, investigations are going on" he said
He says he wouldn't want to comment on whether the investigators would find anything incriminating.
"I wouldn't want to comment on certain things because when a government is working, it is not proper for the immediate past president to make certain statements. I would allow the government to do the work they are supposed to do. After all the investigations, the whole story would be properly chronicled"he said
Jonathan, said he doesn't feel liable for the poor state of the Nigerian economy.
"No. You see the economy of Nigeria somehow depends on oil and at anytime that oil prices drop, it affects the economy significantly in terms of its contribution to the GDP"he said
On the assumption that he left an empty treasury, Jonathan said
"That is not true. There is no way he would have inherited empty treasury and at the same time give bailout to the states. It is not possible. Nigeria is a fairly robust economy. but sometimes we over politicize certain issues and make it look so bad but it was not that bad".
