2019: Arewa group drums support for Atiku

A group of northern youths, Turaki Vanguard Youths and Women Mobilization Group, has called on former vice president, Atiku Abubakar asking him to contest in the 2019 presidential election.
The group spoke through its national chairman, Zachariah Sunday Diwong, on Tuesday, March 6.
He noted that Atiku is a tested and trusted leader and urged the north to rally in his support.
He said: “For equity, justice and fairness, we believe it is time for the entire north to support somebody from the northeast to as our President. And Atiku is the best from that region.
“Atiku Abubakar is a tested and trusted individual who has the capacity to transform Nigeria better than what it is today.
“Nobody from the North Eastern Nigeria that is most qualify than the former Vice President, He is the man that knows Nigeria. The man who has been in the policy making of Nigeria. A philanthropist.
“For these reasons and many more, we the Youth from the Northwest here by endorsed Atiku Abubakar for presidency come 2019.”
Hon. Isah Danssallah who spoke at a meeting organised by the Turaki Youth and Women Mobilization said Atiku would provide a level ground for the youths.
He said: “Both North Central and the North West have been ruling this country since the military era. In the spirit of fairness, the North East should be considered. I called on the Nigerian Youth and Women to rally round Atiku. He will prepare a leveled played ground for the Youth to takeover leadership within the shortest possible time.”
“This is a wake-up call for the Youth, they will occupy various positions in government starting with counselors, LGA councils chairmen, state assembly members and house of Representatives if Atiku is given the PDP ticket.
“As youth, we must sign a deal with Atiku as Youth and Women of this country because he is our last hope.”
Meanwhile, the national publicity secretary of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Alfa Mohammed, said on Sunday, March 4, that the party is expecting five governors and twenty senators and several House of Representatives members to join the party soon.
The party spokesperson, who spoke in Minna, Niger state, also said he will confirm in three weeks if Atiku will be joining the party or not.
