Parents experience a lot of distress when their little ones suffer from an illness. They therefore look for hope wherever they can.
A little girl identified as Gianna Masciantonio had a tumour growing on her brain, and her parents had been advised to start preparing for her burial because it did not seem like she had long to live.
Months after she was diagnosed, she met with the pope in the US while he was on a visit, this was in 2015. She was carried above the crowd, and Pope Francis had reportedly leaned out of his Popemobile, and kissed the little girls' head, unaware of her illness. It was also said that he blessed her with the sign of the cross.
According to reports from The Sun UK, Gianna’s family received a call from a cancer specialist, Ira Dunkel, just two months after Gianna was kissed by the pope. She went through chemotherapy for 15 months, and the tumour began to shrink.
From all indications, three-year-old Gianna is now fine, and she is set to resume school soon. Her family, and her parents, identified as Kristen and Joey Masciantonio, reportedly donated $50,000 to the hospital where she had her treatment.
