The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, has picked former governor of Anambra state, Peter Obi in Abuja, as his running mate for the 2019 presidential elections.
Obi arrived at Abubakar’s residence in Asokoro neighborhood this afternoon and both had undisclosed talks.
The former Anambra governor is widely speculated as the running mate to Atiku for the 2019 general elections.
Several options have been suggested in the public domain, with the candidate being widely expected to choose from either the southeast or southwest.
Silverbird Television owned by PDP senator, Ben Murray-Bruce reports that Atiku has settled for Obi.
Nigeria's number one business newspaper is also reporting same.
Obi, 57, is known for operating a very meticulous financial regime in Anambra state when he served as governor.
Atiku's choice of Obi comes 24 hours after he paid a visit to former president, Olusegun Obasanjo, and the latter endorsed him as Nigeria's next leader.
