Body of missing general Alkali found in abandoned well

The remains of Muhammed Alkali, the retired army general, who was declared missing on September 3 by the Nigerian Army a couple of days after his retirement, has been found in an abandoned well in a village known as Guchwet in Shen district of Jos South local government area of Plateau state.
Our source reports that the water from the well was drained on Wednesday, October 31, and the remains of the retired senior military officer was pulled out and covered in a green and white body bag.
The military authorities confirmed the development. They added that the appropriate authorities would soon issue a statement on the development.
However, no medical investigation has been carried out to ascertain if the remains belonged to the general.
 B. A. Akinruluyo, general officer commanding, 3 division, Rukuba barracks, had said soldiers located a grave where Alkali was initially buried.
According to Akinruluyo, some of the suspects arrested in connection with the mystery behind the disappearance and death of General Alkai confessed that the body of the deceased retired Army boss was buried in a place known as “No Man’s Land” in Dura-Du community in Plateau state. He said those behind the dastardly act later exhumed the corpse and took it to an unknown place.
The garrison commander 3 Armoured Division, Maxwell Kobe Cantonment, Rukuba near Jos, Brigadier General Umar Mohammed, who led the search operation for the missing general said the location for the abandoned well was provided by one of the eight suspects on the police wanted list who submitted himself for interrogation.
Late Alkali was the immediate past chief of administration of the Nigerian Army. He was declared missing when he was traveling from Abuja to Bauchi state. The deceased general just retired from service after 35 years in the Nigerian Army.
Previously the chief of Army staff constituted a special task force to carry out sting operations aimed at finally locating the whereabouts of General Idris Alkali, the retired major-general who went missing on Monday, September 3.
The Army said the first phase of the operation involved combing the entire Doi Du community in Du District of Jos South LGA of Plateau state.
