Buhari Reappoints Oloyede, Announces 3 Major Reappointment as Nigerians Celebrates Orji, Oteh, Awosika Appointment

 

 President Muhammadu Buhari has reappointed Professor Ishaq Oloyede as registrar of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) for the second term of five years.

The president also approved the reappointment of Professor Abubakar Rasheed as Executive Secretary of the National Universities Commission(NUC) and Hamid Bobboyi as Executive Secretary of the Universal Basic Education Commission(UBEC).

This was announced by the spokesman of the Federal Ministry of Education, Ben Bem Goong, in a statement on Friday, August 20.

President Buhari also approved the reappointment of Professor Ifeoma Isiugo-Abanihe as Registrar/CEO of the National Business and Technical Examinations Board for the second term of four years.Goong said the appointments were based on the recommendation of the minister of education, Adamu Adamu, 

The statement said Oloyede's and Rasheed’s reappointments took effect from Sunday, August 1. Bobboyi’s reappointment takes effect from Saturday, August 21.

Meanwhile, President Buhari has also approved the appointment of Professor Promise Mebine as the Director/Chief Executive of the National Mathematical Centre (NMC) for an initial tenure of five years.

Mebine's appointment took effect from Tuesday, August 17.

In a related news three eminent Nigerians, Ibukun Awosika, Uche Orji and Arunma Oteh, have been appointed members of the global Impact Taskforce (ITF), which was established under the United Kingdom’s 2021 presidency of the G7.

Awosika is the founder and chief executive of The Chair Centre Group while Orji is the managing director of Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority (NSIA). Oteh is a former director general of the Securities and Exchange Commission, 

The ITF is being coordinated by the Global Steering Group for Impact Investment (GSG) working with its UK member, the Impact Investing Institute.Arunma Oteh, Uche Orji and Ibukun Awosika

According to The Cable, the ITF members will proffer solutions for a sustainable and inclusive recovery from the COVID-19 crisis.

Also Nigerian woman, Damilola Ogunbiyi, recently was appointed by the UK government as a co-chair of the UN Climate Change Conference’s Energy Transition Council.

On the same date, the Nigerian was with other world leaders to talk about clean energy cooperation for the next 10 years.A statement from the government said Damilola would be working with the CoP president, Alok Sharma.

It should be noted that Damilola was suspended by the minister of power, Sale Mamman, over some allegations in 2019.
