Nigeria's President Muhammadu Buhari has been advised by the governor of Rivers state, Nyesom Wike, to listen to the demands of Nigerians following renewed calls for restructuring the country.
The governor made the disclosure while speaking as a guest on Channels Television breakfast show, Sunrise Daily on Thursday, November 26.
Wike's comment is coming two days after the federal government met with elders and leaders of the south-south region who demanded that Nigeria should be restructured to reflect true federalism.
He explained that political leadership is very key in this country, adding that having the will to implement the people's demands is very serious.
Wike said:
“I don’t want to talk about the issue of distrust or no trust in government. People have raised such issues, that they don’t think that nothing will come out of all this dialogue. I don’t agree with that. I believe that if the president does not do, given the opportunities he has now, then, he will be putting Nigeria on fire.”
