Unknown gunmen suspected to be bandits have kidnapped three people in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by the FCT Police Command on Thursday, November 26.

The statement, however, revealed that police operatives thwarted the attempted abduction of 19 persons, but three people were unfortunate to have been taken away by the gunmen.

According to the statement, the incident occurred at the popular Pei-leilei road along Kwali axis in the Nigerian capital.

Part of the statement read:

“The command reassures members of the public of its unflinching commitment to deploy proactive crime-fighting measures to ensure the security of lives and property in FCT ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebration.”

As usual, Nigerians are expressing their concerns over the spate of kidnappings via social media.

Similarly, gunmen suspected to be kidnappers recently abducted a reverend father, Matthew Dajo, of the St Anthony Catholic Church, in Yangoji village, Kwali area council in the FCT.

The gunmen scaled through the fence of the victim’s house while others positioned themselves outside, before entering the reverend father’s bedroom and whisked him away.

Recall that at least 15 people were killed on Sunday, November 15 and many others abducted when kidnappers blocked the Kaduna-Abuja expressway around 5 pm.

It was gathered that nearly 20 vehicles were forced to stop at the bushy and sloppy location when the gunmen laid siege. The incident happened around Gidan Busa, a village not far away from Rijana, which is 133 kilometres from Abuja.
